The Home for the Golden Gays, or simply The Golden Gays, is a Philippine non-profit organization that provides support and care facilities for elderly LGBTQ people. It was established in 1975 by columnist and activist Justo Justo.

After Justo’s passing in 2012, Golden Gays struggled to stay afloat, eking out a living by putting up drag shows. Conditions worsened when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Quarantine and lockdown restrictions made survival much more difficult for the group.

While the Golden Gays were able to get media attention and donations at some point during 2020, attention has receded. Solidarity must be continuous. We want to help not simply because it’s Pride month, but because the fight for emancipation and care for the LGBTQ community is a commitment.

Extinction Burst

Extinction Burst is a 34-page, hand-stitched poetry zine designed by Mags Ocampo and written by Jam Pascual.

This zine was made through a creative process that intended to process pre-COVID sorrows, and was just as soon thrust into a global crisis characterised by grief and isolation. The point of art is to make you feel less alone. We hope this zine does that for you.

PHP 600 per copy, with only 25 copies available.

100 percent of the profits will be donated to Home for the Golden Gays, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing care for elderly LGBTQ people.
